Doctors had petitioned the Supreme Court to have the therapy schedule released sooner. The top court had issued a notice on the plea, and the counselling schedule had been announced as a result.
The centre told the Supreme Court that the counselling process had been delayed because the top court had requested clarification on OBC reservation in All India Quota (AIQ) seats funded by state medical institutions under the AIQ programme. The Centre authorised a quota of 27% for OBCs and 10% for the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) in all seats of the pan-India quota on July 29.
The Supreme Court was informed that NEET MDS counseling will be held this year in accordance with the existing reservation norms.
